Steve Forrest was a devoted father, grandfather, and neighbor who cherished the simple routine of walking through his neighborhood with his dog, Randell.
These daily walks were integral to his life, providing him with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with neighbors, and appreciate the community he cared deeply about.
Steve was a strong advocate for community advocacy, firmly believing that the roads in our neighborhoods should be safe for everyone who lives there. Before his tragic death, he raised concerns about dangerous speeding on the road where he resided. He reached out to local authorities and advocated for change because he understood how quickly speeding vehicles could compromise pedestrian safety in an ordinary neighborhood.
Sadly, Steve was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle just 25 feet from his own driveway while out walking with Randell. His loss devastated our family, but it also strengthened our resolve to continue the advocacy he had already begun.
This is how The Forrest Way was born, honoring Steve Forrest's legacy and his commitment to safer communities.
After our Dad's passing, we faced two choices: to carry our grief quietly or to transform it into community advocacy that could help protect others.
We chose action in honor of our Dad's legacy, focusing on pedestrian safety to ensure no one else has to experience such a loss.
