Steve was a father, grandfather, and neighbor who loved the simple routine of walking through his neighborhood with his dog, Randell.
Those daily walks were part of his life. They were a time to enjoy the outdoors, connect with neighbors, and appreciate the community he cared deeply about.
Steve also believed strongly that the roads in our neighborhoods should be safe for the people who live there.
Before his death, he spoke up about dangerous speeding on the road where he lived. He contacted local authorities and advocated for change because he knew how quickly speeding vehicles could turn an ordinary neighborhood road into something dangerous.
Tragically, Steve was struck and killed by a speeding vehicle just 25 feet from his own driveway while out walking with Randell.
His loss devastated our family — but it also strengthened our resolve to continue the advocacy he had already begun.
That is how The Forrest Way was born.
After our Dad's passing, we had two choices: carry our grief quietly, or turn it into something that could help protect others. We chose action!
